Brain Flourescent Light Bulb

“The best thing for being sad,” replied Merlin, beginning to puff and blow, “is to learn something. That’s the only thing that never fails. You may grow old and trembling in your anatomies, you may lie awake at night listening to the disorder of your veins, you may miss your only love, you may see the world about you devastated by evil lunatics, or know your honour trampled in the sewers of baser minds. There is only one thing for it then — to learn. Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn.”

This page is intended for CDCP participants, and, accordingly, is password protected. For access, please Contact Me.

This UCI Center for Engaged Instruction certificate program covers the foundations of successful course design. Participants will practice “backwards, integrated course design” by establishing goals for student learning and aligning assignments and assessments with these goals. Participants will leave this program with a certificate in course design, a syllabus for a course they may teach in the future, and strategies for teaching that course. Participation in all (3) sessions, plus the completion of a syllabus are required to attain the certificate.

Intended for graduate students and postdocs, but open to all instructors.

The TA Professional Development Program, or “TAP DAP,” is, to quote the UC Irvine Centier for Engaged Instruction (CEI): “a multi-day series of discipline-specific, interactive workshops designed to provide new TAs with skills and information that will help them to begin their instructional careers at UCI. TAPDP begins  during ‘Welcome Week’ and may continue throughout the quarter, depending on how the department or School has chosen to organize their Program.” To learn more about  TAPDP, visit the CEI’s website here.
